Just a few steps from La Poiana, a forest path leads to an unusual place: a clearing where nature and history sit side by side. Poiana cu Schit is the kind of place you don't look up on a map, you find it by walking.
Why it's worth going
Because it's close, because it's quiet, and because the trail suits the whole family. It's a short outing worth taking any time you want fresh air and an hour or two without your phone.
What you can see
- The monumental sculptures set in the clearing among the trees, an unexpected contrast between human craft and the surrounding forest.
- The ruins of the old hermitage, which keep the trace of an older monastic life in the area. It's worth pausing beside them for a few minutes, in the quiet of the clearing.
- The natural character of the area: a forest path, light filtered through the canopy, and the quiet specific to a clearing tucked away from the main road.
How to get there
Poiana cu Schit is close to La Poiana, in the same area within Poiana cu Cetate, Iași. You set out on foot directly from the guesthouse: it's about 3 km, roughly a 45-minute walk. There is no car access, so the only way there is on foot.
How much time to allow
An hour or two are enough for the walk and some time in the clearing. If you want to linger longer in the shade, it can easily turn into a whole morning.
You can combine this visit with
Poiana cu Schit pairs naturally with a visit to Hadâmbu Monastery, for a full day between nature and spiritual quiet.
